If you look at the studies, the vast majority of people who use Propecia (finasteride) don’t experience significant side effects. It is very rare that someone would suffer a side effect such as impotence after discontinuing a medication.
I took Propecia for a year, then switched to 1/4 of Proscar a day for the next 4 years to save money. After the 5 years, the finasteride seemed to lose its effectiveness and I switched to Avodart (dutasteride) which I have been on for the last 6 months. I got very good results from both and suffered no side effects from Propecia and little side effects from Avodart.
